My Child is older and has never played basketball before. Can they still play in the program?
Yes, Floral Park Indians is open to all players grades 1-12, residing in the Floral Park Bellerose School District regardless of skill level. All skill levels are welcome from beginner to advanced.
Are there tryouts?
There are no tryouts. Every player that registers will be placed on a team.
What does the player need play?
Clinic players will be issued a uniform to keep permanently. Grades 3-12 will be issued a jersey by their coach to use for the season. The player should have their own shorts and comfortable athletic shoes.
Can I request my child to be on the same team as friends?
Intramural Teams for grades 3 thru 12 are created via a team selection process. Normally requests are not accepted.
What grades are Intramural games played with referees?
Intramural Basketball games are played with referees for both boys and girls from Grades 3 thru 12.
What is the schedule? When are practices and games?
The schedule will depend on registration numbers, gym availability from the school district and coach availability. A working schedule is usually available in December. The schedule will be posted on our website and Facebook page when it becomes available. Practices will depend on the coach. We will have open gym practices starting in December. Games start beginning of January and run until playoffs in April.
All games and practices are held during the weekdays, 6:30-10:15pm. 1st & 2nd grade clinics and 3 & 4th grades will play in the 6:30 & 7:30pm time slots.
Games will be scheduled in the SportsEngine app and you will get notifications of game times and venues.
Coaches will schedule their own team practices.
I am interested in being a coach/assistant coach. How can I volunteer?
We are grateful for all our volunteers. If you would like to volunteer please register as a volunteer coach on our registration site. You will be contacted when teams are being formed.
